Royal palace

Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the British monarchs. Situated in the City of Westminster in London, the palace is the venue for a number of events connected with the Royal Family, the venue for visits by many heads of state, and a major tourist attraction.

It is the focal point for the British people in times of joy, crisis and sorrow. Buckingham Palace, or simply ‘the Palace’, is the source of press from the royal offices. Built for John Sheffield, Duke of Buckingham and Normanby, in 1703, it is the residence of the British monarchy. It was extended in the 19th century by John Nash for King George IV.
