Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and pedestrian square in the Westminster district of London, in the United Kingdom.
Once considered the centre of the British Empire, the square is still one of London’s nerve centres and is renowned for the plethora of illuminated signs that surround it. It is also home to a number of tourist attractions, including a fountain erected in 1893 in memory of Lord Shaftesbury and dominated by an Angel of Christian Charity (commonly known as Eros), the Criterion Theatre, the London Pavilion and a number of famous shops.
